I Made Sweet & Sour Chicken
It's Saturday and it's time try out my cooking skills. This time I made Sweet and Sour Chicken. I took the recipe from Blog Chef. But as usually I made some reduction in the quantity to suit my family size. :)
It's really worth trying it. You can view the recipe at http://blogchef.net/sweet-and-sour-chicken-recipe/. But here's my version.
Sweet and Sour Chicken Recipe
Ingredients:
Boneless chicken cut into cubes
Some flour
1 egg (beaten)
1 tablespoon soy sauce
Oil
1 tomato (cut into chunks)
1 onion (cut into chunks)
1/2 green capsicum (cut into chunks)
1 can pineapple chunks (reserve the juice for sauce)
1 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 orange (extract juice)
Pineapple juice from can
1/2 cup chili sauce
2 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 cup water
Cooking Instructions:
1. Mix beaten egg and soy sauce in a bowl. Roll the chicken in flour and dip in egg and then roll in flour. Deep fry chicken until crispy in batches. (I almost burnt the last batch, but managed to save it from going into the dustbin ^_^')
2. Stir fry green capsicum and onions for about 1 minute so they are crispy and also to boost its color. hehe... Set aside the fried green capsicum and onions.
3. To make the sauce, mix pineapple juice, orange juice, vinegar, salt, water and chili sauce. Bring it to boil and simmer 10 minutes. Add cornstarch (make sure you mix the cornstarch with water before adding into the sauce). Stir until it thickens.
4. Add tomatoes and pineapple chunks, onions and green capsicum into the sauce and heat thoroughly. Pour mixture over chicken and serve hot.
Mmmmmm......it's so tasty. Do try Blog Chef's recipe.
