Green is the Colour....
Lately the weather seems to be extremely hot and dry in Klang. Not a soul can be seen outside from 11.00 a.m to 4.30 p.m. The heat is so terrible that people can't even sit at home. Most of the houses here are air-conditioned due to the heat. If they can't afford to fix an air-conditioning unit, there is another alternative. That is...hanging around Jusco Bukit Tinggi. Thanks to Jusco Bukit Tinggi for its generosity.
While we are so busy running away from the heat, has anyone thought of reducing the heat??? Of course the Selangor Government has introduced the 'No Plastic Bag Day' on Saturday, but what about our part as an individual. Are we going to depend on the government, non-government organizations, UNEP, etc. ? If we depend on these organizations then we need more shopping malls and air-conditioned entertainment places.
Let us as an individual try our best to reduce the climate change. Let us support UNEP's programme 'The Plant for the Planet: Billion Tree Campaign'. This campaign is a worldwide tree planting campaign and encourages everyone to plant trees that are appropriate for the local environment. Almost 7.4 billion trees have been planted under this campaign by the end of year 2009, beating its target of 7.0 billion. For more information about this Billion Tree Campaign, please feel free to visit http://www.unep.org/billiontreecampaign.
Though Malaysia is not in the list for me to donate a tree (Asia-only India and Philipines), I would do my part to plant a tree. We Malaysians are also suffering due to the climate change. I'm so proud that my tree will contribute to the 2010 International Year of Biodiversity......Yahooooooo!!
P.S: For those of you who are still wondering what UNEP is....
UNEP means United Nations Environment Programmme.
